The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition – A Return To Your Roots

This video will show you, “A Return To Your Roots,” a massive collection quest that has the Dragonborn scourging throughout Blackreach to find 30 of the 44 Crimson Nirnroots to collect and then give to a particular Alchemist.

*If you are having trouble with a location, exit Blackreach, returning to the Surface and then wait 10 days before returning. This will respawn all of the previously collected Crimson Nirnroot.

Skyrim, Return to your roots quest. Collect Crimson Nirnroot in Blackreach. Shows how to do it. You can pick this quest up while your doing the Elder knowledge main quest line, just before you get the elder scroll. Quest reward is Sinderion’s Serendipity, which provides 25% to get two potions instead of 1, while doing alchemy.
If you already beat the Elder Knowledge quest, you should be able to fast travel to the Tower of Mzark and save some time getting to blackreach. Tower of Mzark is just south west of windhelm.

A Return to you Roots is a side quest that you will encounter in Blackreach once you pick a Crimson Nirnroot. Blackreach is accessed for the first time during the main quest-line while searching for the elder scroll. Once this quest is complete you can return at and complete the Return to your roots quest. In the Video I have returned via Mzinclaleft by activating the Dwarven mechanism there using the Attunement Sphere.

Once you activate the Quest by collecting your first Crimson Nirnroot the quest marker will lead you to Sinderion’s Research Lab where you will find out about his work and you will be instructed to gather a total of 30 Crimson Nirnroot.

Gathering these 30 Crimson Nirnroot is time consuming and you will meet many enemies ( Save your game regularly) .

In this video I have shown a number of locations where they can be found, there are apparently 44 in total. Listen out for the distinct Nirnroot music and red glow as you are searching through blackreach.

Once you have gathered 30 travel to Sarethi Farm in the Rift and give them to Arvusa Sarethi. Arvusa will explain more of the story and will reward you with “The Nirnroot Missive” and some other books, plus Sinderion’s Serendipity an active effect which give you a 25% chance of creating 2 Potions from a mix of ingredients in the Alchemy Lab.
